GAINESVILLE -- The Gainesville girls basketball team won its second Region 8B-AAA game in as many nights with a 51-19 rout of Lanier Tuesday night at home.
The Lady Elephants (12-10, 7-3 in subregion) moved to within 1/2-game of second place Johnson with the win. The two teams meet next week in the regular season finale.
Against Lanier, Gainesville took a quick lead and never trailed. it was the second straight game the Lady Elephants led from start to finish.
Mikalyn DeFoor led the Lady Elephants with 14 points. Kate Callahan added nine points and Rebecca Webster had six points and eight rebounds for Gainesville.
gainesville is off until a showdown with arch-rical East Hall Saturday.
