OAKWOOD -- The Johnson boys basketball team pushed its win streak to three with a 55-48 victory over Forsyth Central Thursday night in the JHS Holiday Shootout.
The game was close throughout with the teams finishing the first quarter in a 12-12 tie. The Knights (7-6) used their defense in the second quarter holding the Bulldogs to just seven points while taking 28-19 lead at halftime.
Forysth Central came out strong in the second half scoring the first six points and then rallied to tie the game at 33-33 with two minutes left in the third quarter. But Johnson closed the quarter on a 7-2 run and then outscored the Bulldogs 15-13 in the fourth quarter despite hitting just 6-of-15 free throws in the final period.
Ty Odem paced the Knights with 24 points and six rebounds. Jalen Bowens added 17 points, 6 steals, and 5 assists, and Montrell McKenzie chipped in with six points and 12 rebounds.
Forsyth Central (7-6) was led by 6-foot-11 Andrew Fisher with 21 points and T.J. Custer with nine points.
