GAINESVILLE -- Hunter Atkinson scored 20 of his game-high 28 points in the second half to help the Spartans hold off Chestatee 81-76 Tuesday in the consolation round of the Lanierland Tournament at the East Hall gym.
West Hall could not shake the winless War Eagles leading 26-21 after the first quarter and then 43-40 at halftime. Chestatee got to within 6058 heading into the fourth quarter but could not complete the rally for its first win.
Rico Jones added 14 points, Tyswon Cantrell 12, and A.J. Stephens 11 for the Spartans.
Chestatee was paced by Keelan Passmore's 18 points. Cole Morgan added 17 points, Jordan DeGraff 14, including four 3-pointers, Lucas Bennett had 12 points, and Justin Jones 11 for the War Eagles.

Johnson opened with an 8-2 run but Lakeview Academy responded with a 20-4 run en route to the victory in the consolation round.
Johnson would close the first quarter with a 7-2 run but Lakeview opened the second quarter with a 15-1 run for a 39-20 lead. Johnson never got closer than 10 points, 61-51, the rest of the way.
The Lions used a 9-2 run to open the fourth quarter to put the game away.
Lakeview's 6-foot-8 center Austin Montgomery dominated the inside for 23 points and nine rebounds to pace the Lions. Austin Pearson provided the outside punch with 20 points, including three 3-pointers, and Matt Askounis added 11 points for Lakeview.
Ty Odem had a huge game with 30 points to pace Johnson, but had just three in the fourth quarter. Montrell McKenzie had nine points and 10 rebounds for the Knights.
