Oakwood signs off on Sunday sales

By Ken Stanford Contributing Editor
OAKWOOD - The Oakwood City Council Monday afternoon held final reading on an ordinance amendment for the retail sale of alcoholic beverages on Sundays.

The first Sunday such sales will be allowed, however, will be New Year's Day "since," City Manager Stan Brown said, "sales are not allowed on Christmas Day."

Oakwood is the final of the three cities in Hall County where voters approved Sunday sales in referendums on Nov. 8 to clear the way for the sales. Sales have already begun in Flowery Branch and Gainesville.

Also at Monday's meeting, the city council held final reading on the annexation of 31.66 acres in Tanner's Creek Business Park. The property is zoned M-1 Light Industrial.
