GAINESVILLE - One of the many organizations in our area reaching out to the less-fortunate at this time of the year is "Action Ministries Gainesville".
Steve Napier is the Executive Director of Action Ministries Gainesville, and he says his volunteers were busy distributing food boxes, coats and more.
"Toys for over 200 children...that equates to about 90 families," Napier explained.
The donated items came from volunteers and organizations, including churches, which partner with Action Ministries.
"We were very proactive in reaching out to other agencies," Napier adds, "to make sure that there was no duplication."
Organizers say the Christmas Party actually serves three purposes: to provide the children of the Gainesville area with a brighter Christmas, increase community awareness of those in need and give community volunteers a chance to make a difference.
