Lt. Gov. wants reversible lanes on I-85

DULUTH - Lt. Gov. Casey Cagle is calling on state transportation officials to add reversible lanes to north Georgia's congested Interstate 85.

Cagle said Wednesday he'd like to add movable barriers to the highway that would convert northbound lanes into southbound lanes for the busy morning commute, and reverse the effect in the evenings.

His comments came during a speech at a Gwinnett Chamber of Commerce luncheon Wednesday.

Cagle said the additional lanes could be tolled or converted into carpool lanes. He said ``there's a lot of options that could occur by picking up that one or two lanes that are underutilized.''
