Approval of Atmos Energy request would lower its natural gas rates

ATLANTA - The primary natural gas provider for Gainesville and Columbus has a request pending with the state that would - if approved - lower monthly rates by $12.50.

State Public Service Commission spokesman Bill Edge confirms that the PSC will consider the request from Atmos Energy at a hearing Wednesday at 1:30.

Edge said the new rates would be effective in late winter or early spring.
