Sunday alcohol sales start in Gainesville, Dacula

By The Associated Press
GAINESVILLE - Sunday alcohol sales continue to spread in communities across Georgia since lawmakers legalized them this year.

Sales started Sunday in Gainesville, where some patrons lined up outside Sammy's Package Store before 12:30 p.m., the earliest that sales can start by law.

Gainesville resident Danny Standridge said he is glad that Sunday sales were legalized. He said he thinks people will buy alcohol on Sundays even if stores do not sell it. Dacula also started Sunday sales this weekend.

Oakwood's City Council is scheduled to meet Monday evening to consider an ordinance that would allow the start of Sunday sales in that city.
