2 Ga. Tech students targeted in attacks

ATLANTA - Two Georgia Tech students were targeted by criminals within a few hours of each other.

The incidents came as police are trying to increase campus security after a spate of crime.

One student told authorities that she returned to her vehicle near the library Friday and was surprised by a man sitting in the back seat. The man hit the student on the head, and then asked for her purse. Authorities said the woman sprayed her attacker with pepper spray, and he fled.

A second robbery attempt happened Saturday morning. A student told police that a man approached him from behind, grabbed his shoulder and tried to steal from him. The student fought off the attacker and ran to his residence hall.
