GAINESVILLE - The fire that damaged a West Hall home Sunday night started in a metal flue in a pre-fabricated fireplace.
Hall County Fire Chief David Kimbrell says the attic received heavy fire damage and there was some light smoke damage and water damage to other parts of the house.
Damages were put at $25,000 to the $150,000 house.
No one was injured.
Kimbrell says the house is on Stone Trace and the call came in shortly before 11:00.
He says the fire was reported by a next-door neighbor who said there was fire coming from the chimney and heavy smoke coming from the attic.
Kimbrell says firefighters attacked the blaze from inside the house, pulling the ceiling down to get to the flames in the attic, using tarps and other material to cover as much of the furnishings as possible to reduce the damage as much as possible.
