GAINESVILLE - Thirty-nine Hall County high school students have been nominated for this year's Governors Honors Program.

The list of nominees was submitted to the state by Dr. Sally Krisel, Assistant Director of Teaching and Learning for the Hall County School System. They represent the six high schools in the district: Chestatee, East Hall, Flowery Branch, Johnson, North Hall and West Hall.

Selected from the 64 nominees from the high schools, these 39 students (22 in Academic areas, 16 in Fine Arts, 1 in Technology) represent the "best of the best" in their areas of nomination, according to Krisel.

They will now move on to the next round of competition, statewide interviews on January 28 and February 4, in hopes of being chosen to attend the prestigious Governor's Honors Program at Valdosta State University June 24-July 21, 2012.
