GAINESVILLE - Joe's Place, a local ministry of Riverbend Baptist Church in Gainesville, hosted their first Thanksgiving meal for the homeless and less fortunate Thursday.
"Different places in the area do it, and we don't want to steal a blessing from other people who have done it annually, but we have just had so many guests who have asked us if we could or would," said Joe's Place Volunteer Kim Robertson.
Robertson said roughly 30 people showed up to share in the holiday feast.
"Hopefully they left feeling like they had a five-star meal and were treated like royalty," she said.
In addition, Robertson said many meals were also delivered to shut-ins in the community.
