Oakwood man gets life in prison for child molestation, rape

GAINESVILLE - A 28-year-old Oakwood man was sentenced to life in prison Tuesday on a 56-count indictment that included aggravated child molestation, sexual exploitation of a child, child molestation and rape.

Hall County District Attorney Lee Darragh said Kenny Puckett pleaded guilty following an investigation that started when the 8-year-old victim told her school counselor about the molestation in March 2011.

"The fact that he confessed and entered a guilty plea attests to the quality of the investigation," Darragh said. "His victim can rest assured that justice was served."

He said the incidents may have been occurring as early as December 2009.

Darragh said in addition to the life sentence, Puckett also received a number of concurrent sentences with 25 years minimum to serve followed by life on probation.
