CORNELIA -- The Habersham County Industrial Development Authority will meet at 9 a.m. Friday to vote on the hiring of J.R. Charles as executive director of economic development for Habersham County.
Charles, of Thomaston, was named the finalist for the position during a Nov. 3 meeting of the IDA.
Charles has submitted his resignation to the Thomaston-Upson County Industrial Development Authority, where he has been serving as executive director since June 2010.
"The Development Authority is very excited to have JR come to Habersham County and lead efforts to support job creation," said Habersham County IDA Chairman Todd Pealock.
Charles is a 2005 graduate of the University of Georgia, with a degree in journalism, and a variety of economic development training.
He will replace David Inglis, whose last day in the position was Feb. 28.
