TOCCOA -- Stephens County snapped a three-game playoff losing streak Friday night with a thrilling 21-14 win over Cedartown in the first round of the Class AAA state playoffs.
The Indians (9-2) trailed 14-7 in the third quarter before B.K. Dooley scored on a touchdown run to tie the game. It stayed that until the final minute.
Chaz Thorton gave Stephens County the final lead of the game scoring on a touchdown run to break the tie. The Indians then held off Cedartown in the final moments to preserve the win.
Stephens County next will travel to play Cairo, which whipped Perry 24-9 in the first round. The Syrupmakers (9-2) have won seven straight games.
