Nude murder suspect killed by Bibb deputy sheriff

By The Associated Press
MACON- In an incident eerily similar to what happened in Hall County four months ago, a Bibb County sheriff's deputy has shot and killed a nude man who had shot another man to death and then reportedly aimed his gun at the officer.

Bibby County sheriff's officials say the gunman refused to drop his weapon when confronted by the deputy and pointed it at the officer.

The gunman was killed shortly after 10 p.m. Thursday, after deputies responded to reports of a screaming nude man banging on windows and doors of residences on Brookhaven Road.

Authorities say that before deputies arrived, 65-year-old Glen Edward Moore had kicked in the door of one home and shot 75-year-old Henry Marvin Mitchum to death.

Sheriff's officials say Moore was still standing over Mitchum's body when they say he pointed the gun at a deputy, who shot and killed him.

In the Hall County case, a nude man was shot and killed by two sheriff's deputies on a street at Harbour Point Yacht Club July 11 after witnesses and the officers say he lunged at the deputies when they confronted him. The deputies were responding to a report of a murder in the West Hall subdivision.
