GAINESVILLE - If you still have not voted today but plan to do so and are wondering if you are eligible to vote in the state House District 25 race, you are encouraged to call the Hall County Elections Office to find out.
There have been questions raised by some voters today who wonder why they are not voting on one thing or another.
Interim Elections Director Charlotte Sosebee emphasized this afternoon that only people who vote at one of the 15 polling places in District 25, the seat formerly held by James Mills, are eligible to vote in that election.
Those are Wilson 1 (Free Chapel), Wilson 2 (Gainesville Church of God), Oakwood 1 (Oakwood Community Building), Oakwood 2 (West Hall High School), Oakwood 3 (Oakwood Gospel Tabernacle), Flowery Branch 1 (Flowery Branch Elementary School), Flowery Branch 2 (First Baptist of Flowery Branch), Roberts (New Bethany Baptist Church), Morgan 1 (Chestnut Mountain Presbyterian Church), Morgan 2 (Blackshear Place Baptist Church), Morgan 3 (Poplar Springs Baptist Church), Candler (Hopewell Baptist Church), Friendship 1 (The Springs Community Church), Friendship 2 (Friendship Elementary School), Friendship 3 (C.W. Davis Middle School), and, in Gainesville, Ward 4.
Earlier today, there were reports of people showing up at the Chicopee Ag Center polling place, only to find it locked and learning later that they did live in district.
Also there have been questions about why Hall County residents are not voting on Sunday alcohol sales. That's because the county commission earlier this year decided not to schedule such a vote until next year at the earliest during an already-scheduled election, such as the Presidential primaries. In Hall County, only people who live in Flowery Branch, Oakwood and Gainesville are voting on the Sunday sales question.
