ATLANTA - Published reports say the state board of regents has decided on the parameters that will be used in considering how to merge some of the public colleges and universities in the state.
The Atlanta Journal-Constitution says it has obtained a document that shows the criteria include how close colleges are to one another and whether there are duplicate academic programs.
The guidelines don't list any specifics as to which schools might be consolidated.
The University System Chancellor, Hank Huckaby, says he expects to have three or four recommendations for the board of regents sometime this winter.
Georiga has 35 public colleges and universities in the university system.
