CARROLLTON -- Region 8-AAA teams proved they will be ready for the state meet in two weeks after a strong showing at the Last Chance Invitational Saturday on the state course in Carrollton.
In the girls race, North Hall, White County, and West Hall finished 1-2-3 in the 16-team field.
Taylor Long of West Hall won the race with a time of 20:04, with White County's Jessie Dotson taking second just five seconds behind.
North Hall was led by Victoria Rogers in 5th place (20:48) and Madison Van Dyke in 6th place (20:54). White County was led by Dotson in second, Kristen Mitchell in eighth (21:25), and Summer Campbell in 11th (21:34). West Hall was paced by Long in first, Savannah Smith in fourth (20:44), and Ryan Sharry in ninth (21:28).

In the boys race, North Hall finished in second behind Woodward Academy with White County taking seventh and West Hall 10th.
North Hall's Brandon Lawson won the race in a time of 16:27 with no real threat to push him. The Trojans were led by Lawson, Whit Nix in seventh (17:07), and Bryce Schuebert in eighth (17:20).
White County was paced by Levi Fangmann in 18th (17:43) and West Hall finished 10th led by Brandon Nguyen in 20th (17:47) and Junior Iniguez in 29th (18:09).
Thursday's Region 8-AAA Region Championship meet will take place at Unicoi State Park in Helen. The boys will run at 4:45 and the girls will run at 5:30 p.m.
