ATLANTA - Georgia recorded a decease of 10 percent in first-time jobless insurance claims over the past 12 months. But metro Gainesville saw a 28.7 percent increase.

Initial unemployment insurance claims in Gainesville increased in the 12 months ending in September from 762 a year ago to 981. Statewide, they were down from 57,146 to 51,267.
