Drug squad cuts possible

GAINESVILLE - The Gainesville City Council learned Thursday that cuts could be in the works to the Gainesville-Hall County Multi-Agency Narcotics Squad (MANS).

The FBI provides most of the funding for MANS, according to City Manager Kip Padgett.

Councilman Bob Hamrick raised the issue, saying he had heard the squad was going to be disbanded, but Padgett said that is not the case even with the pending funding reduction.
