Inmate stabbed to death at state prison in Buford

By Staff
BUFORD - A fight between two inmates at Phillips State Prison in Buford Wednesday night turned deadly.

John Bankhead with the Georgia Bureau of Investigation said the two had some sort of disagreement and one inmate stabbed the other, resulting in the death of the second inmate.

Bankhead did not identify the inmates involved in the altercation, which happened around 6:30 p.m. He did say the inmate who was killed was 27-years-old. And, he indicated the suspect in the case is an inmate who already was serving time for murder.

He said his agents are helping the Department of Corrections piece together what happened.

An autoposy is being conducted today on the inmate who was killed.
