DAHLONEGA - A murder victim's body was exhumed Monday morning from the Mill Creek Baptist Church Cemetery in Dahlonega.
Georgia Bureau of Investigation spokesman John Bankhead said the body of Dillard Jewell Crane has been brought to the state crime lab for additional documentation.
"There just needed to be some clarification on an issue that came up later as the crime lab was processing evidence both from the scene and the autopsy," said Bankhead.
No other details on why the body was exhumed were immediately available.
Crane was shot and killed during a dispute with his neighbor, Lewis Dempsey, in 2009. Dempsey has been charged with Crane's murder. Authorities said the two had been involved in a property dispute that spanned approximately two decades.
