Oakwood launches Facebook page

By Staff
OAKWOOD - Add Oakwood to the growing list of local governments now with a Facebook page.

City officials say the goal is to communicate better with the town's citizens and build a stronger sense of community.

Facebook is part of the City's ongoing effort to stay in touch with the businesses and residents of Oakwood, they add. Over the last three years, the City has introduced its new website and started publishing a community newsletter.

"Having open communication with our citizens has always been a priority of the City Council and staff," Mayor Lamar Scroggs said. "Our Facebook page is another way we can let our residents know what is happening in every corner of our busy community and in return, they can let us know what's on their mind."

With just a click of the "Like" button, anyone with a Facebook account can be added as a fan of the "City of Oakwood."

The Oakwood Facebook page can be accessed at http://www.facebook.com/pages/City-of-Oakwood/129033890486683 or by using the Facebook search option to reach it. Readers, city leaders promise, will be kept up-to-date on news, important dates and events concerning Oakwood. In addition, the City of Oakwood Facebook page will include photos from community events and links to key City websites.
