UNDATED - Government services that were shut down by the snow and ice are slowly beginning to resume across north Georgia.
Garbage and recycling pick-up is expected to resume in Gainesville Monday.
City public works director David Dockery said Wednesday the city is still using as many of its resources as possible to clear the streets of snow and ice.
"Our Streets division has been joined by crews from Traffic, Solid Waste, Public Utilities, Parks and Recreation and the Chattahoochee Golf Course. We continue to concentrate on our Class 1 streets first, then move to our Class II streets throughout the City. Although we have been working since Sunday evening we
realize City services have been greatly affected by the storm and we
appreciate everyone's patience."
City customers who receive pick-up on Monday should have their
garbage and recycling ready by 7:00 a.m.
In addition, public transit is gradually resuming operation.
The Red Rabbit will operate from noon 'til 5:00 today and rides are free. Dial-A-Ride will operate from noon to 5:00 as well. Dialysis patients who need to be picked up sooner should call Hall Area Transit immediately and make their request known.
