WINDER - Two Bethlehem men have been jailed in connection with a New Year's Day robbery and assault on a 16-year-old.

Investigator Matt Guthas with the Barrow County Sheriff's Department said the two suspects picked up the 16-year-old under the guise of giving him a ride. Instead, they took the teen to an undisclosed location and robbed him.

"One of the offenders was armed with a machete and the other was armed with a firearm," said Guthas. "The victim was able to flee the scene without injury, even though the suspects did threaten him."

Guthas said the victim told police the suspects fired the weapon at him. He also reported that the two stole money and a cell phone from him.

Guthas said the suspects, identified as 23-year-old Meek Zamor and 18-year-old Terrell Steele, were acquainted with the victim. Zamor and Steele were arrested after an investigation and charged with armed robbery, aggravated assault and theft by taking. The weapons used in the attack also have been recovered.
