Winder harassment complaint settled

By The Associated Press
WINDER - The city of Winder has paid a former finance official and her attorneys about $250,000 to settle a lawsuit in which she claimed that she was fired after filing a sexual harassment complaint.

Winder city officials admitted no fault, but agreed to pay former accounts payable manager Sue Fowler $150,000 and to pay her attorneys about $100,000.

Fowler claimed she was dismissed in retaliation for filing a harassment complaint alleging that Finance Director Leslie Ginn repeatedly made sexual advances toward her. She said Ginn repeatedly trying to entice her into a sexual relationship.

Fowler contends city leaders chose to include her in some layoffs early in 2009 because of the sexual harassment complaint.
