TOCCOA - Funeral services will be held Tuesday for Rev. Eugene Allen Power, Sr., of Toccoa, a Baptist minister who served eight churches in Georgia and South Carolina over a 32-year period.
Rev. Power died Sunday at Canton Nursing Center in Canton, following several months of declining health.
He was an ordained as a Baptist Pastor in 1958 and served as pastor at Poplar Springs Baptist Church, Lavonia, GA; Madison Baptist Church, Madison, SC; Pine Grove Baptist Church, Gillsville, GA; Toccoa Creek Baptist Church, Toccoa, GA; Franklin Baptist Church, Greenville, SC; Maple Heights Baptist Church, Greenville, SC, Westview Baptist Church, Greenville, SC; and Hills Crossing Baptist Church, Clarksville, GA.
He was a member of Ebenezer Baptist Church and was a U. S. Army World War II Veteran serving in Italy and North Africa.
Family members include his wife, Mary Herring Power of Canton; a son and daughter-in-law, Allen and Susan Power of Marietta; a daughter and son-in-law, Vickie and John Mayfield of Greenville, SC; grandchildren, Annie Power and Matt Power of Marietta; Ron and Sally Marshbanks and Gena Brewer of Greenville, SC; and four great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 Tuesday at Whitlock Mortuary in Toccoa.
