Bike accident sends rider to hospital

GAINESVILLE - A bicycle accident on the southside of Gainesville late Thursday afternoon sent the rider to an Atlanta hospital.

Sgt. Kevin Gaddis of the Gainesville Police Department says police got the call about 5:45 to the Scotland Avenue/Johnson Street area.

Gaddis says it appears the man fell from the bicycle and while he did not know the extent of the injuries, it was decided to life-fight him to an Atlanta hospital. Gaddis say no ohter vehciles were involved. Exactly what happened is also unknown but Sgt. Gaddis say alcohol may have been involved
