Volleyball: Lady Spartans stay hot

OAKWOOD -- West Hall continued its strong play of late sweeping a pair of volleyball matches Thursday at home.

West Hall, which has now won four of its last five matches, opened with a come-from-behind win over Habersham Central 14-25, 25-17, 25-12. The Lady Spartans then knocked off Region 8-AAA rival Lanier 25-15, 25-18.

Laykin Herford led West Hall with 42 assists and eight aces and had seven-point service run. Julie Walsh added 12 kills, two aces and five digs, while Stephanie Rowland had 11 kills and one ace for the Lady Spartans.

LeNisha Kerce had 10 kills and one block while Nicolette Ashley paced the defense with 13 digs, one ace, and one kill.

West Hall (18-12, 2-4 in region) will travel to Oconee County for a tri-match with Eastside next Tuesday.
