BOGART -- Alex Camp rushed for three touchdowns to lead Apalachee to a 24-7 win over Salem in a key Region 8-AAAA game.
The Wildcats (2-1, 2-1 in region) were coming off a wild shootout loss to Flowery Branch last week and coach Shane Davis said he was proud of how his defense rebounded after being riddled for 52 points the week before.
"I thought we did a great job of not giving up the big play like we did last week," Davis said. "That was not fun last week. I like these kinds of games better."
Apalachee led 14-0 at halftime and held Salem (2-2, 2-2) to just 90 yards in the first 24 minutes, most that going on a big play late in the half. The key sequence came in the final moments when the Wildacts stopped Salem on a goal line stand inside the 5-yard-line.
Guy Hunt helped put the game out of reach in the third quarter booting a 49-yard field goal.
