HOMER - Banks County rebounded from a rough loss last week to beat Athens Christian 28-20 Friday night at home.
The Leopards (3-1) scored 15 straight points in the second half to erase a 14-6 halftime deficit, led by Dylan Lackey, who had 123 yards and three touchdowns. Athens then pulled within 21-20 put missed the extra point.
Banks pushed its lead to 28-20 midway through the fourth quarter and then held on in the final seconds for the win. Athens Christian moved the ball to the Banks 9 with 10 seconds left but a fourth down pass fell incomplete to preserve the win for the Leopards.
Banks quarterback Harrison Dale rushed for 47 yards and threw for another 152 yards. Brenton Ruark scored one touchdown for the Leopards.
