CLEVELAND - The Humane Society of Northeast Georgia is working to socialize nine cats that were taken out of an animal hoarder's home in White County last week.
Julie Edwards with the Humane Society said the rescue was filmed for Animal Planet's television show called 'Confessions of Animal Hoarding.'
"When we got there the home was in very bad shape," Edwards said. "The Animal Planet producers told us toxic ammonia levels are in the mid-20s and the ammonia level in this house was near 50."
Edwards said none of the cats had feline HIV or feline leukemia. She said the cats will need to be socialized before they can be spayed and neutered and put up for adoption.
