CARNESVILLE -- White County won its fourth straight game, all in Region 8A-AAA, to remain tied for first place with Stephens County atop the girls softball standings.
The Lady Warriors (7-1, 4-0 in subregion)got a complete-game effort from Callie McDonald, who allowed just four hits and fanned seven, in a 5-2 win over Franklin County Thursday.
White County scored single runs in the first and third innings but the Lady Lions answered with single runs in the second and third to tie the game at 2-2. It stayed that way until the fifth.
White County got a two-run home run from junior Aubrie Gstalder to take a 4-2 lead and then junior Morgan Jacobson added a solo home run in the sixth to put the game away.
White County next will play host to Stephens County Tuesday in a showdown for first place in the subregion.
