Volleyball: Lady Falcons set up showdown for first place in subregion

FLOWERY BRANCH -- Flowery Branch stayed unbeaten in Region 8N-AAAA girls volleyball action after beating Winder-Barrow in a tri-match at the Flowery Branch gym Thursday.

The Lady Falcons (8-4, 5-0 in subregion) knocked off the Lady Bulldoggs 25-21, 28-26 behind the play of Alexis Love, who had 10 kills and three aces to pace the offense. Brittani Hill added five kills, Kathryn McMillin added four kills, and McKenzie Grewett had 20 assists for Flowery Branch.

In the first match, the Lady Falcons dropped a tough three-set match to Hebron Christian after winning the opening game. Hebron rallied for the win 21-25, 25-20, 29-27.

Love had eight kills and seven digs for Flowery Branch. McMillin had six kills and five digs, Sierra Whitmire added nine digs, and Amber Merchant had five blocks for the Lady Falcons.

Flowery Branch next will travel to Apalachee in a battle of two unbeaten teams for first place in the subregion.
