SUGAR HILL -- The West Hall girls volleyball team continued its strong start to the season sweeping a pair of matche from Lanier and Meadowcreek Thursday.
The Lady Spartans (9-3) whipped the Lady Longhorns 25-7, 25-19 behind the play of Tonya Bennett and LaNiesha Kearse. In the second match West Hall beat Class AAAAA Meadowcreek 25-13, 25-14.
Bennett and Kearse each had five kills for West Hall and Laykin Herford added 12 assists to spark the offense against Lanier. Summer Schmeltz had three aces with a 15 point service run and Nicolette Ashley had five digs.
Aagainst meadowcreek, Gracie Allison added four kills, Laykin Herford added 11 assists, and Nicolette Ashley had 6 digs.
West Hall next will travel to Jefferson on Saturday.
