SUWANEE - Suwanee property owners are waking up this morning to a decrease in their property tax rate.
The City Council last night approved a modest reduction in the millage rate. The new rate is 5.70; the old one was 5.77.
Suwanee's tax rate has stayed the same or decreased each year since 2002... while many local governments are having to increase theirs.
"...we're very proud that Suwanee is able to offer our citizens a modest tax savings while maintaining our extremely high standards of customer service," City Manager Marty Allen said. "This is possible thanks to our past conservative financial policies and previous strong development patterns."
Also last night, the city council agreed to install five digital radar - or driver feedback - signs designed to make drivers more aware of their speeds. Such signs have been used in Gainesville for a number of years.
