SUWANEE - A former NFL player stopped for speeding in Gwinnett County winds up behind bars on drug and weapons charges.
Gwinnett police say they stopped Glenn Sharpe, 27, on I-85 southbound near Lawrenceville-Suwanee Road just before 11:00 Wednesday night. Officers say Sharpe gave them permission to search his vehicle and that's when they found a small quantity of Vicodin and a loaded 9-mm pistol, both considered felony possessions.
Sharpe, who lives in Buford, is a free agent who has played for the New Orleans Saints and the Atlanta Falcons.
Sharpe played college football at the University of Miami.
