Teachers hear song dedicated to one of their students

GAINESVILLE - A song performed for Gainesville educators Wednesday morning was dedicated to one of their students as they met for their annual convocation.

"One Gainesville" has a unifying message and was written by Fair Street Elementary principal Will Campbell.

Campbell dedicated it to one of his students, 10-year-old Maggie Portillo, now recovering from a stroke and brain aneurysm she suffered last month.

"It was kind of an 'all of the above' song," Campbell said. "It was a dedication to Maggie and also to honor our district motto as 'One Gainesville.'"
