Deal raises $1M since July for Ga. gov run

ATLANTA - Republican Nathan Deal raised more money since July than Karen Handel as they campaign for the Republican nomination for governor.

Deal's campaign reported Friday that it raised just over $1 million in cash from July 1 to Aug. 4. A summary page from a campaign finance report shows that Deal spent roughly $1.2 million during the same period. He ended with almost $484,000 in cash on hand.

Both candidates are competing in a runoff election Tuesday. They must file their latest campaign finance reports before Saturday.
