GAINESVILLE - Former Hall County Commissioner Hugh K. Turk has died.

Turk, who was 85, died Thursday at Northeast Georgia Medical Center.

Turk served on the Commission, then called the Hall County Commission of Roads and Revenue, from 1957-1960.

Though advanced in age, Turk was a frequent visitor to the Commission office and stayed involved in his local government until he was unable to drive. He lived most of his life in Hall County.

"Hugh K. knew people all over the county and had a great rapport with people of all walks of life," said Chairman Tom Oliver. "He will be missed by Hall County."

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. July 31 at the Pleasant Hill Baptist Church.
