Alpharetta officer suspended for improper parking

By The Associated Press
ALPHARETTA - An Alpharetta police officer has been suspended without pay for parking in a handicapped zone in his cruiser.

It stems from a Tuesday incident.

Brian Davis snapped five photos of the cruiser blocking the access ramp in the handicapped zone of the Quik Trip parking lot on Old Milton Parkway. He tells CBS Atlanta that the cruiser sat there for more than 15 minutes.

Alpharetta Department of Public Safety spokesman George Gordon hasn't named the officer but says the officer has been suspended without pay for one week, will take 24 hours of advanced traffic training and has been cited for parking in a handicapped zone.

That citation could cost up to $500.
