FLOWERY BRANCH - Flowery Branch is creating a city-financed public defender for municipal court.
The council held first reading on an ordianance estalishing the position Thursday night which also sets pay for the public defender at $666 a month. Final approval is expected next month.
The council has also agreed to stop charging all commercial sewer customers in Flowery Branch $180 a year for inspections and testing of grease traps. The fee - not to exceed $165 - will now be charged only to those customers who operate a grease trap, according to city clerk Melissa McCain.
