Burch leaving UGA program for Kennesaw State

By The Associated Press
ATHENS - Bruce Burch of Gainesville, the founder of the University of Georgia's music business certificate program, is leaving, along with two other people involved in the program, to start a similar operation at Kennesaw State University.

Kennesaw State officials say Burch, the director of the UGA program, his top assistant, Keith Perissi and development officer Heather Malcom will start a music and entertainment business certificate program at the school in Cobb County.

They say their new program will be underwritten by a contribution from Atlanta entertainment lawyer Joel Katz.

Georgia's program prepares students for jobs in the music business. Robert Sumichrast, dean of the UGA Terry College of Business, says he hopes to expand the program there to include other entertainment businesses such as video games.

Burch is also one of the founders of Gainesville's annual Bruce Burch and Friends Honor John Jarrard Concert.
