String of 90+ days ends

By Ken Stanford Contributing Editor
GAINESVILLE - The end of June brought with it the end of our string of 90-degree-plus days in Gainesville.

Most of north Georgia has been suffering through the same thing.

For Gainesville, you have to go back to June 18 to find the last time - until yesterday - that the thermometer didn't reach 90.

The high yesterday at Lee Gilmer Memorial Airport was 87. But that is still above average for this time of the year... the 22 straight day that temperatures have been above normal.

Temperatures are expected to remain at or near normal for the next several days... through the weekend, at least.
