CLEVELAND - The Georgia State Patrol reports one person was killed Thursday night in Lumpkin County when an SUV hit a bear.
A spokesman with the Cumming post of the Georgia State Patrol said the accident happened at 9:15 on U.S. Highway 129 at the White/Lumpkin County line.
Troopers report said a passenger, who was not wearing a seatbelt, was thrown from the vehicle and killed. Lumpkin County Deputy Corner Ronald Fortner identified the victim as 33-year old Amy Jo Alvarez, Duncan Bridge Road, Cleveland.
