State's oldest charter American Legion member dies

JEFFERSON - The oldest charter member of the American Legion in Georgia has died.<br /> <br /> A.G. Mitchell of Jefferson, who was 92 and was a veteran of World War II, died Wednesday night following a period of declining health.<br /> <br /> Mitchell was also a well-known Jackson County businessman. He and his wife, Lottie Toney Mitchell, founded Mitchell Hardware and Building Supply in Jefferson in 1950 and operated it for many years.<br /> <br /> (A full obituary is posted elsewhere on accessnorthga.com>)<br />
