Mom arrested after 4-yr-old wanders away from home

GAINESVILLE - A Gainesville woman was arrested Monday morning after her 4-year-old daughter wandered away from home while she was asleep.

Lt. Carol Martin of the Gainesville Police Department says the little girl was found about 8:30 about a block away. She was found in the cul-de-sac on Cleveland Street by a passerby who called police.

29-year-old Amber Michelle Powell was charged with reckless conduct. There were three other children - all under the age of nine - in the Myrtle Street home, according to Lt. Martin.

Martin says the youngsters were left in the custody of their father "referrals" on each, outlining the the incident, were made to the state Department of Family and Children Services.
