LAWRENCEVILLE - Come August 25, Gwinnett schools will have new starting and ending times for the school day.
Seven of those schools are new schools' five elementary schools, one middle school, and one high school. In addition, Gwinnett School of Mathematics, Science, and Technology (GSMST) students will move to its permanent building with adjusted hours. As a result of the new schools opening, a few existing school schedules were adjusted to allow for the most efficient use of the district' s school buses, according to school officials.
In addition, several high schools, adjusted schedules by a few minutes in the morning to allow for smoother arrivals and additional transition time. Setting the school hours several months ahead of the start of the new school year allows parents to have as much time as possible to plan ahead for any changes that might affect their family schedules.

The new times take effect on August 9, 2010, the first day of school.
Parents who are new to Gwinnett County and will enroll their student(s) in a school not changing its schedule, can learn about the hours of instruction at the time when they enroll their child. In addition, the starting and ending times for all GCPS facilities are available on the school system' s web site at www.gwinnett.k12.ga.us, and will be updated for the new school year once this school year is concluded.
