GAINESVILLE - The Brenau swim team added a record-breaking recruit for next season when Monica Souther committed to join the squad.

Souther competed for Northwest Whitfield High School, where she set school records in the 100 Fly, 100 Back, 200 IM Relay, 200 Free Relay and 400 Free Relay. She also swam for the Dalton Dolphins and the Makos under the direction of Coach Charles Todd.

Monica was on the Honor Roll all four years during high school and lettered in academics in addition to her accomplishments in the pool.

"Monica will be a valuable addition to the Brenau University swim program. She has the passion and work ethic to be successful as a swimmer at the collegiate level and I anticipate she will make a significant contribution to our swim team," said Athletic Director Mike Lochstampfor, who attended her signing ceremony.
